Running Reflection Form

For the 100m sprint, I can improve my form in a number of ways. One of the ways that I can improve my form is by having a smooth forward backward action for my arms, where I drive back with my elbows and have my hands move from bust height to hips. I need to improve on this because currently my arms do not swing that high which is necessary to have a fast time as this will help me propel faster without using as much energy. I also need to work on relaxing my fingers because I normally, even when I am biking, clench my hands into fists. This drains my energy faster causing me to have a slower time. Therefore, if I have my fingers loosely curled, I will gain more speed and will not get tired as easily. In addition, I think that I need to bring my foot higher up to make a cycling motion, I don't think that this is one of the biggest problems though as I am still making the cycling motion, I can just improve it a little. A couple of good things that I have with my form are I keep my eyes trained on the finish line which helps me set a goal, which is to finish. It also keeps me aware of how much further I have to go and how much I have already run. I also have a straight back, not one that is hunched, which helps me extend my legs further. Even though, I need to work on my arm motion, one good thing about it is that my arms do not cross each other or over my chest which is great because if they did, I would waste a lot of energy!

The Truman Show - Scene Analysis

I chose the scene where Truman is threatening Meryl because I think that this scene portrays Truman finally taking action after realizing that his life is not what he thought it was. He has finally found someone who he knows is a part of whatever is taking over his life. This scene is full of suspense which is why I also enjoy it.

Shots
There were a variety of shots taken during this scene. In the start, there was a mid-shot of Meryl which then turned into an interesting long shot of Truman, as the camera went behind Meryl and had half of Meryl's back in the shot and half of her out. There are also a few dollys, like when the camera dollied into Meryl when she was speaking like a commercial person about cocoa, the mid shot turned into a close up. There are a couple of closeups switching from Meryl to Truman until Truman gets up. This is the shot which I thought was unique, because it was a shot of Truman, a mid shot, but the camera lens were in the picture so you could tell that someone was watching him. And even when Meryl is trying to defend herself with the peeler, there is a vignette which expresses that the camera has not left but is not in full view right now. When, the camera does an overview, I could easily see the "fight" between them which was an interesting view. They also had a scene where Meryl's and Truman's motions were pictured on an old television which portrayed that people were watching them, again.

Characters
Truman's character as well as Meryl's makes the scene work because Truman, is usually a happy man but when he suddenly gets angry at Meryl, who he is normally calm at, it surprises the audience. This makes the scene work because it shows that he is realizing what is happening and is changing. Meryl, who is normally kind and sweet hearted, suddenly gets defensive and scared, which also captivates the audience's attention. They make the scene work because both characters and acting out of their normal state which makes the scene interesting. It helps drive the story because it shows that Truman's life isn't as happy as we thought and that Meryl is actually a part of the group watching him which wasn't expected.

Seed Germination

This the procedure I used to germinate my seed. This procedure is for lettuce seeds.

1. Fold a brown(if possible) paper towel in half and moisten
2. Lay the moistened towel at the bottom of a plastic container
3. Place seeds about ½ inch apart on towel(if doing more than one)
4. Place cover on the container and keep inside the classroom where it is away from direct sunlight and where the the aircon is coldest, as it cannot be kept in places with the temperature below 22 celsius.
5. Take of the lid of the container to let oxygen in daily for about 10 - 15 minutes
6. Add moisture, if necessary, by spritzing it with water. Spray the towel and the plant to prevent saturation with a spray bottle, if you have one.
7. If you notice mold growing on any seeds, remove them immediately from the container to prevent it from spreading.

Materials needed:
(Brown) paper towel
Plastic container with holes on top
Spray bottle(if possible)

Temperature:
22 celsius at the highest

A Day in the Life of a Green Apple Reflection

1. Now that you have finished your film, what were some of the skills you used the most?  How did they help make your film better?

A skill that we used was filming at different angles and therefore having a variety of shots. This improved our film because it made our film more interesting and have more diversity.

2. What were your biggest successes during creating this project? Why would you label them a success?

Our biggest success was finding suitable sounds for our imovie as we struggled with that with out last movie. I would label this a success because it made our film more entertaining and was something new that we achieved in this imovie that we didn't in our last one.

3. What were your struggles? Why were they hard for you? How did you overcome them?
We struggled with a few scenes in our film that involved Megan's dog, Lucy, because it was hard to make her do the things we needed her to do. We overcame this obstacle by using treats to make her do the things we wanted.

4. What was your overall opinion of this project? How would you make it better or different?
I think that the project was a great idea because it got student's thinking and you could be creative and do something you wouldn't normally do - film a day in the life of an inanimate object. I would not change anything about this project.

Film Short

Q1. How do you feel about your film short? Are you pleased or not pleased with the final result? Why?

A1. I feel like we could've improved the film and added more detail to it as we had a big setback - the classroom that we needed for filming in was locked and not available to us. I am pleased with the final result considering our setback but we could've done better.

Q2. What successes and struggles did you run into while filming?

A2. A success we had was having a film with many different types of shots as well as finding good sounds for the editing. A struggle we ran into was cooperating with our setbacks to create a good film.

Q3. How was working with your group?

A3. I think that Megan was a great partner as she has a good eye for interesting shots. She is also good at filming. We both have good ideas that work with each other and have similar set minds which helps when we come up with ideas.

Q4. What was the biggest lesson you took from this experience?

A4. the biggest lesson that I took away was that there will be many problems that I will have to face but I just need to get through them and find an alternative method. I learnt this because we had to compromise when we faced our challenge.

Advice Letter

Someone posted an instagram photo of me that was really embarrassing and hurtful. I've asked them to remove it and they said, "relax.... it's just for fun... besides you look pretty in it." What can I do?

Dear Alien,
Cyber bullying is becoming more common because of rapid pace in which technology is growing throughout the world. Remember, that you are not alone. While, it may feel like you are the only one facing this calamity, 1 out of every 4 teens are cyber bullied.

Before you do anything, you need to try and figure out why your cyber bully is bullying you. You're bully might not be aware of the fact that (s)he is hurting you and may just think that (s)he is playing a harmless joke. You're bully might do it to feel better about themselves, which may sound odd, but it's true. It's easy to forget that there is a real life person behind a screen. You're bully may feel depressed or angry and that is the reason behind her/him doing this. (s)he can, without realising, channel his/her feelings onto their words which they type or post. That's why, if you are feeling angry you need to step away or go offline for a while until you feel better so that you are not posting or saying something that you can't take back.

Most bullies think that they are safe behind their computer name and screen but really social networks can quite easily track them down. The second step which you need to do is to keep the evidence. You need to either take a screen shot, save the file or print a hard copy. If the bullying is getting to a point where it is crossing the line, you should report the picture. Most social networks have the option to report the user. This way, you are stoping your cyber bully from harassing you as well as taking away their undeserved privilege to go on the site.

The third step that you need to take is to comment nothing. This may sound odd but commenting nothing makes a huge impact. You need to be rational and think through what's going on. Calm yourself down before going back online because you certainly do not want to type back a mean comment otherwise, that makes you as bad as your bully. Avoid texting, commenting or talking to you're bully. The cyber bully is normally doing this to get a reaction out of you. If you ignore it, (s)he will probably leave you and stop harassing you. Try to distract yourself. Some suggestions are, doing something you love, immersing yourself in a book or a movie, playing with a pet/sibling or going for a run.

The final step that you need to take is to tell an adult. During these times, you will feel torn between telling an adult or not, and will often keep this to yourself because you feel ashamed or have the fear of having your computer/phone privileges taken away. But, telling a trusted adult is always the answer. Even if you think that you can handle the situation yourself, adults will be understanding and will help. Chances are, that your cyber bully is violating a school rule, even if it is done at home, and since your bully belongs to your school - (s)he will probably have to face the consequences. If you tell a trusted adult, they will probably make the bully take down the picture and they will be in serious trouble.

Don't be afraid of your cyber bully and remember these steps. The ultimate goal of a cyber bully is to get a reaction out of you, if you don't give them a reaction, they will leave you alone.

Best of luck!
Bye for now,
Human

Cluster 1 Reflection

1. What are your friendship strengths and challenges?

My friendship strengths are that I listen carefully to what others say and are responsible so I can motivate others to do what they are supposed to do. I also respect the fact that everyone has different ideas and perspectives and that none are wrong. A challenge that I have is being too quiet with my friends, only with my good friends to I actually open up. I need to showcase my ideas more and give my input. For the Pooh character test, I learnt that I am Eye-ore and are status quo. I need downtime to relax and clear my head and cannot work in a messy unorganised area.

2. Explain what you've learnt about the movement pattern(rotations) and concept(Tactics and Shots).

I have learnt about hip rotation and arm movement during our softball, badminton and tennis unit. I learnt this because for all sports you need to have the proper rotation to hit the ball far, or over the net. For example, in Tennis, you need to rotate you hips when you serve so that the ball goes crosscourt and use the proper arm movement so that the ball goes over the net with as much power as you can muster.

I have learnt about the concept during our cluster 1 units because for all three you need to think about the placement of the ball and where you want to aim it so that you have the best possible result. For example, in softball, you need to aim the ball into open space - where less people are, and away from first base so that you will not get out immediately and have a chance to score for your team.

3. What are 2 specific things you'd like to accomplish this year in P.E?
1 specific thing that I would like to accomplish this year in P.E is improving my mile run time as I really don't want my time to increase instead of decrease because that will not show improvement.

The second thing that I would like to accomplish this year in P.E is to grow and improve on my weak topics such as soccer and water polo, just like how I improved on badminton which used to be my worst unit/sport.

Battling Softball Batting

1. What are two specific movements I am doing well while I am batting?
a) My feet are approximately shoulder width apart, parallel and facing base.
b) My hands are together on the bat. The hand which is the catcher is on top, the other closest to the back.

2. What are two specific movements I can work on?
a) Loads, (put weight on back leg), strides(picks up front foo or shifts weight to it) and swings through the zone.
b) Knees are loose, shoulders forward over base support.

Portfolio Theme Brainstorm

1. WHY you want this theme?

My theme is shops. I want this theme because it is something that we see in our daily lives but don't pay much attention too. We don't notice the layout or how pretty shops can look. I will mostly be shooting shops in Great World City as I go there often and will show the outside as well as the insides of shops. I think that shops have a lot of cool hidden secrets that we fail to see and I would like to capture that.

2. What are some photos that have inspired you?

Q1. What did you learn or understand better about shooting at shutter speed priority?
I learnt what a shutter speed did and was and also understood how a camera works better. I learnt about light photography which uses a slow shutter speed and taking jump shots which uses a fast shutter speed.

Q2. What were your successes during this shoot?
My successes were taking one really good jump shot of Breno and Ms. Gach and taking good light photos.

Q3. What were your struggles?
My struggles were capturing a good picture and finding the right shutter speed for the jump shots. As for light photography, it was hard trying to draw letters because you had to draw them backwards.

Polygon Reflection

Q1. What are the common properties of all polygons?

All polygons are multi-sided (more than 2 sides), have only straight lines(no curvy lines), closed, 2D(planar), have angles, have vertices and have no intersections.
Not a Polygon
Is a Polygon
Q2. What does the measure in degrees tell you about an angle?
The measure in degrees tell you the type of angle an angle is. For example; 90˚ is a right angle, more than 90˚ and less than 180˚ is an obtuse angle, 180˚is a straight angle, over 180˚ is a reflex angle. Depending on the degrees we can tell what angle it is.

Q3. What are some common angles?
Common angles are called benchmark angles. Benchmark angles are commonly used and are easily identified. A few common benchmark angles are 30˚, 45˚, 60˚, 90˚ and 180˚.

Types of Angles

Benchmark Angles
Q4. What are some strategies that can be used to estimate angle measures?

There are 3 steps that are used to estimate the measure of an angle.
Step 1:
Is it acute or obtuse?
Most angles that are used for estimating the measure are acute and obtuse angles although really you need to identify the type. Sometimes you could have a right, reflex or straight angle in which case you will obviously not ask the question, 'is it obtuse or acute'.

Step 2:
Is it one of the common angles?(degrees)
This means, is it one of the benchmark angles or "common" angles. And it is talking about degrees, the degrees of the benchmark angles not the type as we already covered that.

Step 3:
Have I read the angle from the initial to terminal side?
This means that you have read the angle from the zero line or starting line of the angle and are going to the other line which is the line that rotates depending on the angle.

TQ5. How do you find accurate measurements with tools?
To find an accurate measurement you will need to protractor. Watch the video below to find out how to use a protractor.

Exemplary 4. Write one set of directions to construct a polygon that is satisfied by only two shapes.
Directions: Draw 2 polygons that have four 90˚ angles and 2 sets of parallel lines.
Answer: Draw a square and a rectangle.

Shot at f 5

shot at f 32

Shot at 7.1

Shot at f 7.1
1. What did you learn or understand better about shooting at aperture priority?
I learnt about shallow depth of filed and deep depth of filed as well as what an aperture was and how to control the f stop. I also learnt that control over the aperture is extremely helpful with blurring the background, especially on manual mode.

2. What were your successes during this shoot?
My successes were that I got better with each shot and took some cool pictures and learnt a lot of new things with the doing on how to take a picture.

3. What were your struggles?
My struggle was that I sometimes forgot to change my f stop which is why I have 2 pictures of the same f stop.

First Day Photo Shoot

What was difficult or surprising about shooting these photos?
It was surprising on how many shots you had to take in order to get a picture you liked and how many angles you had to try before achieving a picture that you really like.

What else would you have shot if you had time?
I would've reshot the bike picture because I shot the bikes at a really good angle which I really liked but it was blurred, so I would reshoot that.

Art 6 Photography

Texture

I think that this photo is a good texture photo and this is why I chose it: because it is unique as no one else that I saw had taken this photo. I took this photo through pressing my camera to a glass box that I had at my house. I have to admit that I had accidentally blurred the bottom half of the picture but then I realized that mistake was actually a good thing because it enhanced the other half of the picture. I also added in a lot of density and meaning to the photo as well as a vinaigrette as I thought that the black and crystal class went well together. Overall, I think that this was a great texture photo!

Atypical Angle/Texture

I had a couple of photos that expressed more then one category but this picture showed texture as well as atypical angle because the frame shows texture but the since the picture was taken at a unique angle, it is also atypical angle. I chose this for atypical angel though because I already had a texture photo and I think that I could get better texture pictures.

Reflection

I believe that this was my best photo because it was my own original idea and it was surprisingly on a piano which surprised me because I had never really seen my piano in that way before. I had also enhanced my picture and making the reflection clearer to editing it but I think that this picture was a pretty good reflection. I also didn't have any other reflection ideas because I was not near a lake or water source and had no other ideas so I thought that this idea really helped me.

If I could do this assignment again, I would've spent less time on my name design so that I would have enough time to not get behind in my other project and still get the photography pictures on time. So I would plan ahead.

Water Project Week 3

Originally, as I stated in my last blog post, Isabel and I had decided that we would participate in the bake sale but then we changed our plans because we thought that more people would come our goods were sold in a neighbourhood. We had already targeted our neighbours as we were handing out our brochures to them, so we decided that we would ask the people in our neighbourhood if they wanted to buy a bag of caramel squares and along with the squares I gave out my brochures. We encountered a problem as our brochures were printing the wrong way because of the format so we talked to our friend, Adya about it and she told us how to change the format so that it would print properly.  So we solved our problem. We also worked on our presentation that we are going to present to our science class.

Looking through a microscope: Onion Inner Membrane and Cheek Cell

My partner, Shreya, and I together looked through a microscope. Through the microscope we looked an the inner membrane of an onion and Shreya's cheek cell. We had to use iodine for this procedure to make contrast. Iodine causes stains that will never go and unfortunately Shreya got a splotch of iodine on her shirt. After we examined the cheek cells as well as the onion cells in low power(40x), medium power(100x), and high power(400x), we sketched out how both the cells looked in high power. We created two circles of which different cell sketches were drawn in each circle. Below are my sketches of the cells:

The first sketch is of the onion inner membrane. The second sketch is of Shreya's cheek cells.

Water Project Week 2

This Week, I printed out the brochures that Isabel and me are going to hand out to our separate neighbourhoods. We also finalised what we are going to do at the bake sale - as we still were decided on what to do last week. I talked to my mother about the bake sale and she gave me the idea to make caramel squares! Caramel squares are basically three layer biscuits which have caramel, chocolate, and a biscuit base! Isabel is going to write facts on the water crisis on the paper plates that I bought. We are pretty sure that we are going to do the bake sale on Wednesday as it seems more likely that more people will come on the first day, as people are excited for the first open of the bake sale!

Millionaire Project Q & A

Q1: What did you already know?
A1: I already knew decimals and tables, such as rate tables from previous units and my own sources.

Q2: What did you learn? (Project? Parents?)
A2: From the project I learnt how to calculate interest and how a bank works, as well as how to find percents for a bank and why interest is important. From my parents, I learnt that you can't just become a millionaire by putting money in a bank and earning interest, you need to do something else that will help you become a millionaire as interest is quite low, so you need to put in a lot of money in order to become a millionaire. (For example, in Singapore, the interest rate is less than 1%)

Q3: How might this affect what you do in the future?
A3: This may affect what I do in the future, because if I become a banker I will know how to do my job and when I choose a bank to invest money, I will know which banks are better than others because of the interest rate.

Q4: What is one thing that you wonder after doing this project?
A4: I wonder about how you know if the bank is a reliable bank who will not go crazy with it's money and end up losing all of your money.

Water Project Week 1

I decided that for my Water Service Project that I will work in a partnership with Isabel. The goal for our project is to raise awareness about the water crisis that we are facing right now in our world. Isabel and me decided that we would raise awareness through three major topics. The first topic that we figured out was presenting to a 4th or 5th grade classroom but then we decided that it wouldn't really spread awareness as the kids were too young to donate and they wouldn't really understand the topic so we replaced our first major topic with another topic - which was handing out brochures to our neighbours. This was a new audience that we targeted that we thought would understand our topic better. We have already finished the brochures so we're going to target our last two major topics. The second major topic is to bake baked goods for the bake sale which we will participate in. This will be held in the MS Foyer. Isabel and me will together next weekend bake the goods and will work on our third major topic which is to create a poster for our class. This poster will be presented in our separate 6th grade science class. The poster is our main priority and our next steps will be to complete the poster and to bake the goods.

Tech 6-Post 2

Questions:

  • Have you ever designed and built anything before?
  • Were you able to finish your cardboard game?
  • If you had the ability to do this project again, or iterate more, what would you do different? Add?
  • What did you learn about yourself throughout this design and build process?

Answers:
  • I have drawn many architect ideas which means that I have designed before. With my younger sister, we always start building things but than we never finish so I haven't built many things.
  • Yes, we - my partner, Aria, and I finished our cardboard game.
  • If I could add on or do this project again, I would incorporate more cardboard because ours is like a group last year where our laptop was the most important item as we just used the cardboard as a box. Maybe for our character in our game to move, we could make cardboard squares and you have to dance by tapping your foot on the right, left, forward, or back square for the character to move.
  • I learnt that I like to code and costume characters on scratch and that I work well when I work with a partner that feels the same way about a the game that I do.

Observing Daphia Through a Microscope

Today in science class, we observed Daphia. Daphia is also known as water fleas because of their appearance. Together my partner, Shreya, and me observed Daphia. We used a microscope as they are very small and hard to see with the naked eye. It surprised me on how the tiny water fleas looked as with the naked eye, they look slightly longer than a dot and are a murky brown, but on the microscope you a see a transparent curvish body with a brown head and brown tentacles. Their black eyes are very big, round, and clear. To capture pictures and videos of Daphia, we connected our microscopes with a plug to our laptops. That way we could see the water fleas on our laptop screen - preventing us from squinting at the tiny water fleas. We saw babies, mothers and fathers! Some people even so the mother giving birth, accidentally, some people smushed their water flea as they are very tiny.

Do you want be a Millionaire? Go to Tavishi Express!

Do YOU Want to be a Millionaire? If you do, invest in my bank.

We have a very secure method of calculating interest and using it to give YOU more money. We want to make sure that our customers are comfortable with using our bank so we want to first make sure that you know what you are dealing with. For example do you even know what interest is? Do you know how to calculate it? No? Well let me teach you.

Interest is the money that your money earns! I know, your money earns money, how cool is that?! Earning interest on your savings can have a significant impact on your savings potential. Remember interest can only be earned through banks! Anyway, this is how you calculate interest:

  1. You take your money, for example $1000 which is 100%.
  2. Then you divide that money by 100 so that the percent is now 1% and your money is now $10.
  3. After that you multiply your money and percent by your interest. If the interest is 5, you multiply 1(percent) and 10(money) by 5.
  4. You must add now. You add 100% with 5% and $1000 with $50 which is $1050.

As you can see that our bank, Tavishi Express, long for T.E, finds our customers very important, we find that their opinion of our bank matters so we try to make them feel comfortable and understand the ways of our bank.

The benefit of investing your money in an account that earns annual interest rather than sticking it under your bed are:
  • You earn more money as the long-term result
  • Your interest rate can increase
  • YOU can become a MILLIONAIRE
Do you store your money under your bed, getting all mouldy and crusty? Well, let me tell you that storing your money under your bed is a horrible idea! If you store $1,000 under your bed, it will stay $1,000 until your 65 years old! But is you keep that $1,000 in a bank, you will get interest and by the time you are 65, you will be a millionaire. Just repeatedly store $1,000 every year in Tavishi Express, and we will give you 7% interest on your money!

Still don't understand? Maybe this graph will help you see the impact a bank can make on your money! The pink line with dots is the money you earn if you invest in a bank. The green line with stars is the money you have if you store it under your bed. Remember, the left side has the money you save, and the bottom line is the age!

You see you could earn tons and tons of extra money without doing any extra work, just be investing in a bank without withdrawing money for a couple of years! Tavishi Express will also give you a high interest rate! Which is what you want, right?

A question that always seems to find a way to crawl in is, "Why".

Why is it that if you do not withdraw your money, each year you earn more savings that the year before?

The answer is simple, it is because you earn a higher interest. The bank, my bank, Tavishi Express, wants our customers to stay and not choose another bank over us which is why interest is used. Since we need something to lure our customers in, humans have created the alluring method to be called interest. The higher interest you give, the more customers want to join as they want money. You must remember that you must not give too high of an interest to customers or you will run out of money to give and shut down your bank.

Do YOU realize that by just using a bank, we highly recommend Tavishi Express, you can become a Millionaire. Stick your money in our bank for 46 years, give us $3, 047 every year, and your interest rate will become 7%. Bam, you've got 1,000,100 dollars. Plus, $100!

I hope that you do NOT just read this, and then not come to our bank. Put some thought into the fact that unlike other banks, we have tried to explain the methods of our bank, the doings, what interest is, why we do it, and we have faith that YOU can become a millionaire! Once again, come to Tavishi Express and be the first to deposit your money! Perhaps, when you are older you will remember how you came to be a millionaire - from a paper!

Rainbow Bagels:
One thing that I found interesting was that the workers, and the restaurant owner would make "rainbow" bagels even if they can only make 100 bagels in 5 hours, in comparison to being able to make 5,000 ordinary bagels in the same amount of time. Maybe it's because they want their shop to be unique and get better business. I think that the rainbow bagels attract business because when you say, "I ate a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast" it's not very interesting but when you say, "I ate a rainbow bagel with funfetti cream cheese for breakfast" it's more exciting and interesting to hear. Perhaps they also make more business because the rainbow bagels give the illusion that it tastes better I mean if it's rainbow, it has to taste better, right?

Paper Battery:
One thing that I found interesting is that scientists and engineers have now evolved technology to create an invention that is a battery made out of paper! While scientists and engineers state that this is environmentally friendly, I cannot say I completely agree. I understand that it is better than polluting the air, but by using paper, they are cutting trees and destroying animal habitats. It is a step towards reducing air pollution and green house gases so perhaps near the future, the paper battery will evolve to something that doesn't cause air pollution but also doesn't cut down so many trees.

Chemistry Unit Reflection

Regarding chemistry, before I thought that chemistry was just a couple of flasks and beakers with perhaps a couple of droppers on the side. Maybe there were a few substances with many colours or some sort of liquid in the beakers or flasks, but that was it. That was all that I thought was chemistry.

Now I think about chemistry in a whole new way! I know what acids, bases and pH indicators are. I can now connect chemistry to my daily life. For example, the food that I eat like Oreos and cereal, all have chemicals as wells as acids/bases in them. From icepacks to glow sticks, everything has chemistry in it! From this chemistry unit, I have learnt about how acids and bases work as well as what pH indicators do. I thought that acids were all dangerous chemicals but now I know that acids can be dangerous as well as safe, I didn't even know what bases were! I even know the properties of acids and bases. For example, bases usually make good cleaning products and taste sour. There are many types of pH indicators as well like phenolphthalein and cabbage juice. I know connect acids and bases to my every day life.

Fraction Division

In our math class we our on our fraction unit. To make sure that we understood how to divide fraction, we had to solve the equation: 3/4 divided by 1/8.

We used two methods to solve this question, the first method was the traditional algorithm method, I will tell you how we solved the problem in the paragraph below.

We kept the fraction 3/4 the same but in order to solve the question we had to multiply. We had to change 1/8 into it's reciprocal which is 8/1. Now we could multiply. We did 3/4 multiplied by 8/1. First we multiplied the numerators, 3 from 3/4 times 8 from 8/1. 3 times 8 equals to 24. Now we had our numerator for our answer. We couldn't just leave the denominators hanging so we multiplied the denominator 4 with the denominator 1 and got 4, which is our denominator. Now we had 24 over 4. 24/4 is an improper fraction so we had to change it to a mixed number. We did 24 divided by 4 to get 6 our answer is 6.

For our second method we used a model. At first I found creating models for fractions challenging but I now know how to model. In the paragraph below, I will explain how to create a model for dividing fractions.

We created a number line starting from 0 - 1. We knew that we didn't have to make the number line to a bigger number because 3/4 isn't bigger than 2. Since 3/4's denominator is 4, we divided the number line into 4 parts. Now we had to see, "How many groups of 1/8 were in 3/4". We then divided each part into half so now there were 8 parts. We then marked where 3/4 was on the number line and counted how many eights were in 3/4. We circled each eight until 3/4 and got 6 circles which mans that the answer is 6.
