Science at fifth grade

I think the number one safety rule is.........
listen to instructions!

A mixture is.......
a combination of two or more materials, solids or liquid. I is in our everyday lives.

A solution is.....
a mixture of a solid and liquid. The solid is always seeming like it has dissapeared.

My science group members are......
Nandita, Mateo, Simon and lastly myself. My science group members are good teammates and I think we will get along well.

I am looking forward science this year because.......
I have never learnt science before so I am really excited to be doing science this year. I also have always been interested in mixtures and solution, and I look forward to science this year.

Website Safety

We are learning about how to evaluate websites. There are five things you need to think about when looking at a website.

• URL
• Author
• Purpose
• Currency
• Links     

I learnt about the five things on top that were about websites.

 Firstly URL which stands for uniform resource locater. There are two types of websites good ones and not so good ones. You will know if it is a good website if it end with com, gov, edu net and org are the most common ones.

Secondly Author where you look for or search for about us or contact us. Thats the place where you get to know the author.

Thirdly Purpose its where you get to know why its there. For example it could be for selling, entertainment, inform and explain. These are just a few of them there are many more.

Fourthly Currency, this kind of currency is not the money currency it is the current kind of currency.Like if the news is about today it is current. If the news is about the 16 September 2003
it is not current.

Fifthly Links, this is the kind of site like SAS where it connects you to other links. If you want to find out if the link is a good link or bad link, then you type in linkto: where google will let you know if it is bad or good.

Lastly we have links which are like attachments. For example google which is a link to link other sites.    

These are a few things to ensure your website is safe.

My Typing Goal

In fifth grade the expectation is that I will be able to type thirty five wpm by the end of the year. This is very important because as I get older I will spend more time in my computer.

My beginning of year typing speed is 11wpm.

Science group challenge

Today Miss H put us in groups for science. We had to do the marshmallow challenge. We were given 25 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of string, one yard of tape, and one marshmallow. We had to create a standing tower that would support a marshmallow. I found it a lot of fun because we worked together as a team. It was a challenge but we made it the tallest and then suddenly it fell. Well thats how you learn!

Digital Footprints

                                                   Here are a 6 things about digital footprints!

1. Don't ever put any personal information on your blog 

2.Writing your last name is strictly forbidden.

3.Never share your password.

4.Think before you post cause once posted can be difficult to remove.

5.Be respectful and don't put anyones personal information.

6.Ask a safe adult before posting.
