Battle of Books(BOB)

Yesterday we had our BOB challenge. My team was Jazlyn, Catherine(Captain), Luca, and me.

I was very excited about doing the battle of books because I had never done it before. I felt slightly nervous because of the weight on whether we would win or loos.

I found that it was very fun and interesting as each of us answered at least one question but most of answered two or three each.

It was amazing, awesome, and majestic!!!!!

Genre pie challenge

This semester we embarked on another reading journey. We had to read eight different genres over 18 weeks, these were different from semester one's pizza challenge.

I was successful to finish my genre pie first because I think that I used my time wisely and I was organized.

What I did differently from semester one was finish the challenge first by having a goal to finish first as last semester my only goal was to finish.

Genre pie challenge

Our genre pie challenge begins today and ends Friday 15th May. We have to read eight different books, each a different genre.

Our genres are:

  • fantasy or humor
  • realistic fiction
  • historical fiction or classic
  • award winning
  • free choice
  • non fiction
  • poetry
  • double genre

My strategy to achieve will be to read the genres I don't like as much and have more pages than others first.

Genre Pizza Challenge

This semester Ms.H set us a challenge to read 8 different genres. We had four months to complete the challenge. The genres we had to read were:

  • Realistic Fiction - Wonder by R.J Palacio
  • Historical Fiction - Anne of Green Gables by M.Mont Gomery
  • Science Fiction - Wrinkle in time by Madeleine L'Engle
  • Fantasy - Charlie bone and the time twister by Jenny Nimmo
  • Biography - The diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank
  • Mystery - Kidnapped #2( The search ) by Gordon Korman
  • Non - fiction - Praire dogs
  • Action/Adventure - Kidnapped #1( The abduction ) by Gordon Korman
The thing I liked the best about this challenge was exploring new genres because I like to find out new books.

A new genre I found interesting was Science fiction because Wrinkle in Time was a very good book.

Next time I would try to finish first.

I enjoyed everything as all the books that I read I liked and enjoyed.

My reading goals

I think I need to work on my questioning the text skills and my infering the character. I think I am good at retelling the story. I will try my best to improve on my weaknesses and keep on going with my strength.

Here is are a few pictures of a few books!
